7 years ago, we started investigating the cause of hazardous explosions in batteries, such as those in the Samsung Note 7, as part of our academic research. We realized the impact and potential of this technology and how it could change the world of energy storage. In 2018, we understood how we could create a larger impact on the world by starting a company focussed on this mission, and Addionics was born. We are developing a new technology that will transform the way we store and deliver energy with a positive effect on the environment.
Addionics provides specialized improved rechargeable batteries by redesigning their architecture. With our patent-protected scalable 3D electrodes fabrication method, we enhance battery performance: capacity, safety, charging time, lifetime, and cost of the batteries. Addionics novel smart 3D structure minimizes the internal resistance and improves mechanical longevity, thermal stability and other fundamental limitations and degradation factors in standard batteries. This process results in a significant step-change in the performance of all key battery characteristics simultaneously and enables a cheaper cost of ownership.
The key uniqueness of Addionics lies in the world-class expertise of its team. Addionics’ founders have a combined 40+ years of experience in electrochemistry, more than 20 patents in the field and unique knowledge in simulation and 3D modelling of batteries. Addionics is not limited to any chemistry or manufacturing technique and has proven that its technology can integrate seamlessly to ready-existing battery manufacturing methods at similar costs. Our in-house predictive algorithm allows a high customisation of properties for highly tailored applications.
